Cristie Kerr, Lydia Ko Take Home Big LPGA Money

Cristie Kerr won 1st place and $500,000 in the 2015 LGPA CME Group Tour Championship. Lydia Ko took home the $1 million dollar Race to the CME Globe title. The tournament took place on November 19 to 22. All in all, the Group Tour Championship purse was $2 million, split between the top 70 players.

Cristie Kerr beat out Gerina Piller and Ha Na Jang by just one point for first place. Piller and Jang both tied for second place and  split $280,000 of 2nd and 3rd place price money.

Other players in the top five were Lexi Thompson and Karine Icher. Thompson took home $90,982 and Icher won $73,230.

There were 32 LPGA tournaments in 2015, with total purses of $59 million. The smallest money purse was $1 million for the Lorena Ochoa Invitational in Mexico City on November 12 to 15. The largest was the U.S. Women’s Open at $4.5 million.

CME Group Tour Championship Money

Cristie Kerr CMA Group Tour MoneyCristie Kerr ‘s first place earnings in the 2015 CME Group Tour Championship were $500,000. The win was Kerr’s second of the season and the 18th of her career. Kerr also won the 1st place slot in the Kia Classic on March 26th. Her earnings for that win were $255,000.

Kerr won the Group Tour Championship by one stroke with a final score of 17 under par.

Lydia Ko tied three other golfers for 7th place with a score of 11 under. The 18 year old Ko earned $42,385 for that place, but also took the $1 million dollar full-season prize for the Race to the CME Globe.

The CME Group Tour Championship was the final LGPA tournament of 2015. It was held on November 19 to 22nd in Naples, Florida. The tournament had a purse of $2 million, split between 70 players. Prize money ran from $500,000 for first place to $3,529 for 70th place. Top earners are listed in the table below:

Since the $1 million dollar Race to the CME Globe title was introduced in 2014, Lydia Ko has won it twice. That makes her the only golfer ever to win the title. It also means she’s dominated the league in terms of points for her entire professional career so far.

Ko won despite tying for 7th place in the CME Group Tour Championship. In that contest, Ko finished 6 shots ahead of winner Cristie Kerr. Ko took first place in five tournaments in 2015 and finished in the top 10 in 17 tournaments. She earned a total of $3.8 million for the year.
