How the Championship Money Gets Split Up
Of course in the real world, there isn’t an exact 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finisher, all the way down to 74th. There are bound to be many ties. In those cases, the money for all those places gets pooled up and split evenly among the players in that niche. In other words, let’s say seven golfers tie for fourth place. That’s a fairly common situation. In that case, the prize money for 4th through 1oth place will be pooled to make a pot of $2,567,250. That then gets divided up equally so the seven 4th place finishers get $366,750 each in PGA Championship money.
